Erik is an economist and sustainability specialist, with a focus on finance and circular economy. He graduated from the prestigious Tecnológico de Monterrey in Mexico City and IÉSEG School of Management in Lille, France, one of the country's top 3 schools for sustainability. After gaining valuable work experience at Scotiabank as an internal quantitative risk (market, liquidity, credit and environmental) auditor, he decided to focus his career on adapting sustainability solutions in organizations. Also, in aiding in the transition towards the circular economy, studying the socioeconomic, financial and environmental impacts of finance, the built environment, technology, fashion, agriculture among others. As an economist, he also has focused in studying human behavior and bias, recognizing consumer impact in the environment.
At Responsible Alpha, Erik has spearheaded the company's efforts towards transparency, inclusion and disclosure, leading the B Corp certification, the sustainability report and communications to other higher governing bodies like the United Nations. He is also the head of Diversity, Equity and Inclusion (DEI), joining the Board of Directors as its representative, looking to build on the organization's diversity and recognizing its potential. He speaks four languages and a dialect and enjoys arts and music.
