Since 2015 Michiel has served as the Executive Director of the FarmStrong Foundation, an organization that designs, implements, and monitors integrated sustainable agricultural production systems and climate-resilient rural development programs. Prior to FarmStrong, Michiel worked 16 years for the Archer Daniels Midland (ADM). His last position was Director of Sustainability for ADM Cocoa (2009-2015). Prior to that, he was the Head of Sourcing & Trading. Michiel has a B.Sc in Tropical Agronomy (Netherlands), a . (Agri-Business) from Cranfield University (England), and a post-graduate Executive Education diploma from Harvard University’s, John F. Kennedy School. He is fluent in Dutch, German, Spanish, French, Italian and English. He is a keen user of Earth Observation techniques to evaluate objectively the progress of the programs on the ground, but above all determined to make a difference and create a positive impact on the livelihoods of the smallholder farmer families and communities (The People) in the FarmStrong programs.
